Freedom to Explore
After completing my Master of Fine Art in drawing and painting from the Academy of Art San Francisco, where I painted lush impasto (thick paint) landscapes, exploring the Meaning of Place, I am allowing myself the freedom of exploration in technique, medium and subject matter. I am drawing from years of experiences, from my travels, and intuitive responses to produce works that convey my love of color, texture and organic shape. This work expressive, yet uncomplicated - a balance of chaos and control.
Gratitude
In every collection, my work expresses my love for the natural word in landscapes and flora, but also shifts inward to mend the wounds of simply being brave enough to live in this beautiful dysfunctional world. Though my subjects vary, it is my hope that an overriding theme of gratitude is ever present and visible to the viewer.
Medium
My medium of choice is oil paint often combined with cold wax medium and oil pigment sticks, utilizing both the brush and palette knife to create impasto abstractions.
